23: It’s Not Just Your Posture

A common phrase we hear in the chiropractic world is this: “Oh, I’ve just got bad posture.” But here’s the thing: We all have scenarios that we can relate to where we aren’t sitting with good posture. However, there’s a difference between bad posture from sitting in a cramped spot all day versus daily issues of not being able to sit up or stand up straight because of back pain or muscle pain. In this episode, Dr. Mandy gives you things to consider about your posture and scoliosis. It’s not just your posture – it could be something else.



Things to consider about your posture:

  • One shoulder might be higher than the other one.
  • Your neck is forward instead of in line with your spine.
  • People often tell you that you are slouching or to “sit up straight!”
  • Any numbness, tingling, etc. are red flags that need to be checked.
  • In kids, check to see if their shoulders are the same height.
  • In kids, check to see if their chin is really far forward from their neck.
